Getting Started
Well, let's start with something simple: The basics.
I get asked a lot of "what do you write about" questions when I tell people I'm a writer. The simplest answer: Anything.
And I do mean ANYTHING. Well, except for maybe true and accurate historical theses.
One thing I told a coworker (yes, I do do something else besides write for a living) when she asked me how to get started: Just write. Whatever comes, free write. Just sit down and let it flow. Write about zombies, or aliens, or zombie aliens attacking Queen Victoria. (Seriously, one of the coolest novels I've seen recently is Queen Victoria: Demon Hunter by A. E. Moorat, and I must say it looks to be an interesting read if I can get my hands on it for more than a few seconds.)
Honestly, that's how I got started. Eighth grade was the 2000 election year, and I was so disgusted (even at the tender age of 13) by politics that I sat down and started writing a novel (lost, I believe, to the ravages of time by now) about rebellion and it's young, teenage leader.
Seriously. You don't have to create the next big thing-Stephanie Myers certainly didn't create the vampire novel (Bram Stoker did), but she did take it to a new level. So has Charlaine Harris, and Anne Rice, and a handful of others. You just have to have an idea, and work at it.
By the way, don't forget to post or email your writing questions in any blog I post! I will always leave room at the bottom of my entries to answer a few of them!

About
Yeah, I know there are dozens by dozens by dozens of writers blogging about their work. There are also about the same that tell you how you can be a better writer. And there are even a few that do both.
But I'm not like that.
Yeah, you'll get news and updates on my work, but luckily enough, writing isn't all I do. I'm also a game developer-backgrounds, story lines, and even a bit of the non-coding side of mechanics. I paint (digitally and not all that well, I admit), I create some wicked fractals, and I even dance a little*.
I'm just a simple, young, talented writer about to finish her first book and ready to start promoting it. Look for more news in the future!
